A basic principal of Girl Scouting is for a troop to be self-supporting. Girl/Adult planning is an integral part of the Girl Scout program. Through the girl planning process, troop/groups should plan activities that can be funded by troop dues, a share of money earned through council-sponsored product sales and, when necessary, troop money-earning activities. (See Safety-Wise, page 48).
Financial Assistance may be available for registered Girl Scouts who would otherwise not be able to attend individual program events and camps or purchase individual resources. We realize that a family's finances can be affected by lay-offs, illness, income or more than one child wanting to participate in the same Girl Scout event.
To ensure that funds are available for girls in need, requests will be based on individual need. A volunteer committee will review financial assistance requests on an "as needed" basis for program events.
To request Girl Assistance for a girl complete the reverse side and send it to the Program Director at the Service Center at least one month in advance. Every effort will be made to process the request in a timely manner as long as it is received on time.
Should you, the troop leader, or the girl's parent/guardian have any questions concerning girl financial assistance please contact the Program Director at the Service Center.
Financial Assistance is a part of the council's continuing investment in the development of Girl Scouting. It is supported in part by nine (9) United Way Agencies, the cookie sale and private contributions.
