Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council Featured at CarolinaFest

Girl Scouts, Hornets' Nest Council has been chosen to participate in CarolinaFest 2012, a family friendly Labor Day Celebration that will occur in Uptown Charlotte to kick off the Democratic National Convention.  The Girls Are IT! mobile technology bus will be on display with a variety of STEM experiential learning opportunities for kids of all ages.

Girl Scouts is proud to have been selected to showcase our girl-focused efforts in the field of STEM and be an example of Mayor Anthony Foxx's Legacy Projects.  The Legacy Village, including the Girls Are IT! bus, will be home to engaging exhibits and fun activities that will inspire festivalgoers to take steps to become involved in their communities and carry these legacies forward.  The four convention legacy programs are: Healthy Children; Healthy Families; Youth Employment and Civic Education; Building a Broader, More Inclusive Economy; and Energy, Technology, and Sustainability.

Visit our display and take part in fun and engaging learning opportunities at the Girls Are IT! bus in The Legacy Village located adjacent to the Harvey B. Gantt Center and the Green.  CarolinaFest will be held on Tryon Street in Uptown Charlotte, beginning at 10 a.m. with the Charlotte Labor Day Parade and conclude at approximately 6:15 p.m.
