GUIDELINES FOR TROOP MONEY EARNING ACTIVITIES
Troops may conduct money-earning activities to raise money for troop activities as long as they follow the guidelines below:
- The troop must have participated in the Council’s Cookie Sale.
- 2. The money-earning activity may not take place during United Way black out dates or during the council-sponsored product sales.
- The troop must get written approval from the council before conducting the activity. A Troop Money Earning Activity Application (forms & publications) must be submitted.
- There shall be no donation collection cans, selling of non-approved products, phone solicitation or games of chance (raffles) involved in money-earning activities.
- Money-earning projects should occur only when there is a need for such funds due to a specific program goal.
- Door-to-door sales are not permitted other than council product sales.
- GSHNC is not responsible for any debts incurred by troops when they undertake a troop money-earning project.
- Money-earning projects are to be suitable to the ages and abilities of the girls and are to be planned and carried out by them.
Some examples of troop money earning activities include but are not limited to:
- Car washes
- Bake Sales
- Yard Sales
- Recycling Projects
- Gift Wrapping during the holidays
Some examples of troop money earning activities that are not appropriate are:
- Product demonstration parties
- Raffles
- Games of Chance
- The direct solicitation of cash
- Sale or endorsement of commercial products
