Who to call when someone needs help:

Nationwide:
United Way 211 - anyone can call this number any time of day or night and describe a need of a child or family (housing, food, clothing, help with utilities, counseling, etc.) and the person on call will connect them with United Way or other agencies that can help with their needs.

Reporting child abuse or neglect in North Carolina & York County, South Carolina:
If you need technical assistance and/or need to report child abuse or neglect please call 704-336-CARE(2273) in North Carolina and 803-684-2315 in South Carolina. The law states that any adult who SUSPECTS child abuse or neglect MUST report it. Intake social workers who staff the phone lines above know how to coach people anonymously and will help you make a decision about reporting.
