Please use the Trip Training Requirements Chart to determine which trainings are required. Outdoor courses must be taken in order.
To take a troop overnight to a site where girls sleep in enclosed facilities containing flush toilets; such as a POD, campsite lodge, sponsorship or leader’s home, leaders must complete both sections. No fire building or outdoor cooking.

After submitting your section results, enter your name, email address and select a Service Unit (Hornets’ Nest). You must complete both sections of this course to receive credit.
Level 2 completion allows participants to lead a troop in a campfire and outdoor cooking at an enclosed facility.
Level 3 is required before taking a troop camping where girls sleep in smaller groups in tents and cabins with tested water and established bathroom facilities.
*Levels 2 and 3 are typically offered together. If you only need one, please register separately. Courses are offered March-May, and September-October.
Level 4 prepares adults to work with groups at primitive campsites without established shelters, bathrooms and/or safe drinking water. This course is typically offered in October and April.
To lead a group on an overnight backpacking experience, participants must acquire skills including equipment selection and packing, weight management, trail selection, backpacking safety information, repairs, preventing and managing trail-side situations, and more. This course is typically offered in October and April.
To become a Backpacking Trip Leader, adults and Ambassador Girl Scouts must complete Levels 1-4.
Cadette, Senior and Ambassador girls who complete this training as part of the backpacking interest group, or in preparation of a trip led by a trained backpacking leader, are not required to complete Outdoor Levels 1-4.
