FAQ
  • Base registration for Kick Off costs $10 per person for the morning, and $10 per person for the afternoon, which includes lunch, plus access to dozens of free classes! Many more classes are available for an additional nominal charge.
  • If you are showing any symptoms of COVID, we will not be able to allow you to participate in Kick Off. Masks will be required for all participants when in close proximity to one another, both indoors and outdoors.
  • You don’t have to select a class for every session - if you want to leave out a session so you can visit the camp store, go on a walking tour of camp, or even arrive late or leave early, you can!
  • We are expecting this program to be very popular and our session sizes are smaller than usual, so some classes will fill up quickly. Register early to make sure you get your choice of classes!
  • For those spending the night in a cabin, you must provide proof of full vaccination or provide negative COVID test results at check-in.
  • You do not have to be a registered Girl Scout member to attend! Adults who are considering becoming Troop Leaders, Troop parents who want to know more about the Girl Scout program, and prospective new Service Unit team members are all welcome.
  • If you are worried about the cost of this event, please discuss it with your Troop and/or Service Unit. They may have money set aside to help Leaders and Volunteers access trainings that will help their Troops grow and attend new programs. If you are still in need after discussing it with your Troop and Service Unit, please call 704-731-6500.

Who should attend Kick Off?
Kick Off is great for all volunteers and leaders, regardless of how long they’ve been with Girl Scouts! From the Girl Scout Basics and Cookie Program 101 to helping girls through the Highest Awards and uplifting their mental health, there are so many different types of sessions to help you as a volunteer support your Girl Scouts no matter where in the experience they are. Plus, there’s plenty of time for you to unwind and have fun at camp, too! Climb the Phoenix Tower, test your aim with archery, hike through the woods, or kayak on the lake. There is time for every volunteer to put together sessions to make the day, or weekend, they most want.

How much is Kick Off registration and what do I get for it?
Registration for the morning sessions (1 & 2) is $10, and registration for the afternoon sessions (3, 4, and 5) is $10. Register for both or either one, depending on the sessions and experience that make the most sense for you. Both morning and afternoon registration include lunch and the 2021 Kick Off shirt (shirt only available if you register by July 1). Add-ons are also available for Friday night, Saturday night, and Sunday to complete your weekend at camp – prices vary for these extra experiences, but some are free (reserving tent camping space, enjoying our Saturday camp fire, etc.).

Why is registration split for Kick Off this year?
We want you to have the Kick Off experience that makes the most sense for you. Only able to be at camp Saturday morning, but thinking you’d like to spend the night too? Great! Don’t want to pay for morning sessions, but want to come for lunch and the afternoon? See you then! This is your weekend at camp, sharing and learning with other volunteers, and it is all about what works best for you!

What types of health and safety precautions can I expect at Kick Off?
First and foremost, your safety is our top priority for Kick Off, and it is important to us that you are comfortable throughout your time at camp. We’ve added extra sessions in many time slots to encourage smaller groups across the board, and expect many classes will be more intimate this year than they have before. Our lunch will be pre-packaged and will be served outside picnic style to encourage you and your teams to connect and enjoy together while helping allow distance if desired. We are following many of the same precautions we are taking at summer camp this year, as well, asking that masks be worn during sessions, and requiring a negative COVID-19 test at check in for anyone planning to spend the night at camp. A health screening will be provided to all registrants to be completed prior to their arrival, and we ask that anyone who is showing signs or symptoms of illness stay home (refunds available as needed).  This is subject to change based on local, federal, and ACA guidelines. Attendees will be notified prior to Kick Off of any changes.

What will the 2021 Kick Off Shirt look like?
Check out our pre-production mock up below! We're so excited to share our Girl Scout pride in this shirt!
