“Have you ever met someone that inspired you? We did on April 12th, after visiting the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center in uptown Charlotte to meet Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools Superintendent, Ann Clark. She answered questions about Girl Scouts, her role as a Superintendent, and about government - a requirement for our Government Badge. She shared the importance of Girl Scouting and how girls who stick with it have opportunities for earning scholarships and making lifelong friends. She talked about setting goals and working hard to achieve them. For example, she advised us to think about college, print out the college application we're interested in, and to start filling it out in 9th grade. By doing this, we can see what holes are in our applications and set goals to complete the missing parts.
She also shared her love for reading (Charlotte’s Web is her favorite book) and told us that reading not only makes you smarter, but gives you opportunities in life. She encouraged us to make our community a better place by creating Little Free Libraries in book deserts. Her advice inspired us to take on this project as our Bronze Award. Thank you, Ann Clark, for all the you do for the children in CMS, for supporting Girl Scouts, and for inspiring us!” Troops 3016 and 1712. #MotivationMonday ... See MoreSee Less
