Hornets' Nest POD Village

The Girl Scouts, Hornets’ Nest Council Service Center is nestled in a wooded area behind the GSHNC Service Center (7007 Idlewild Road, Charlotte, NC 28212).

POD Village consists of five octagonal buildings and is open year-round. Between council programs, day camp and troop meetings, these buildings serve as home to several Girl Scouting activities.

PODs 1, 2 & 3
  • Sleep 15 individuals (mattresses from rolling cart, no cots)
  • Tables, chairs, toilets, showers and a full kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator and sink
    •  No cooking utensils or pots/pans/etc. are guaranteed. Please bring the cooking supplies you will need.
POD 4
  • Not available for general reservations
  • Handicap accessible
  • Girls Go Beyond POD, with support from TIAA
  • Intended for facilitated programs only
POD 5
  • Handicap accessible
  • Sleeps 25 (mattresses from rolling cart, no cots)
  • Tables, chairs, toilets, showers and a full kitchen with stove/oven, microwave, refrigerator and sink
    •  No cooking utensils or pots/pans/etc. are guaranteed. Please bring the cooking supplies you will need.
  • POD Village Shelter
    •  Picnic tables, lights and ceiling fans
  • Picnic tables, fire rings, and charcoal grills are available for use with the appropriate outdoor training. Located near the PODs.

POD Village Shelter/Cookie Cabana
Enclosed shelter with rolling shutters so that the shelter can be opened or closed, depending on the program offering and season. The shelter includes picnic tables, lights and ceiling fans. 

This shelter is also the home to our cookies during cookie season.
