POD Village at GSHNC Service Center

The POD Village is nestled in a wooded area behind the GSHNC Service Center in Charlotte, and consists of one large and four small octagonal PODs with interior kitchens and bathrooms, a covered pavilion shelter, and a games field with archery equipment.

Between council programs, day camp, and troop meetings, these buildings serve as home to all kinds of Girl Scouting activities - try them out for your Troop's first overnight experience!

Overnight Areas (Noon to Noon)
PODs 1, 2, and 3
 
  • Capacity: 15 people each
  • Fully enclosed buildings with heat and AC
  • Stairs to entrances
  • Twin-size plastic-covered foam camp mattresses are provided for sleepover-style accomodations - there are no bed frames
  • Each POD contains a kitchen with:
    • Refrigerator/Freezer
    • Sink
    • Stove and oven
    • Microwave
    • Utensils, dishes, pots, pans, foil, soap, etc. are NOT provided. Please bring your own!
  • Tables and chairs are provided for group activities in the POD
  • Access to communal fire fings for those with correct training - firewood is provided. 
  • Each POD has a bathroom with:
    • 2 toilets
    • 2 showers
    • 2 sinks
  • Paper towels, toilet paper, and basic cleaning supplies are provided.

 

POD 4

POD 4 is used for Council programming, and is not available for general rental.

 

POD 5

  • Capacity: 25 people
  • Fully enclosed building with heat and AC
  • Handicapped accessible
  • Twin-size plastic-covered foam camp mattresses are provided for sleepover-style accomodations - there are no bed frames
  • Contains a kitchen with:
    • Refrigerator/Freezer
    • Sink
    • Stove and oven
    • Microwave
    • Utensils, dishes, pots, pans, foil, soap, etc. are NOT provided. Please bring your own!
  • Cafeteria-style tables with attached benches are provided for group activities in the POD
  • Access to communal fire fings for those with correct training - firewood is provided. 
  • Has two bathrooms, each with:
    • 2 toilets (4 total)
    • 1 shower (2 total)
    • 2 sinks (4 total)
  • Paper towels, toilet paper, and basic cleaning supplies are provided.

    • Comes with full tank of propane and grill utensils
    • No extra training required 
  • Movie Theater Equipment
    • Indoor screen
    • Projector

    • DVD player
    • Remote
    • VGA cable to connect DVD player to projector
    • VGA-HDMI cable available upon request to attach to a computer instead
Day Use Areas (8am-5pm)
Pavilion
  • Open pavilion with rolling shutter doors
  • Holds up to 8 picnic tables for activities
  • Has lights and electricity
  • If you are not renting a POD, access will be given to the bathrooms at the back of the Council office
  • Access to communal fire rings for those with correct training - firewood is provided
  • Easy access to the communal field next to the Pavilion, but please note - if anoher group has reserved Archery or the Games Field area, they will have primary access to the field! Please reserve the Games Field area in 'Self-Facilitated Activities' if you definitely need to have access to the field during your rental. 
Activities (1.5 hour blocks)

Archery

  • Archery supplies for all ages
  • Maximum of 25 participants per block
  • Group must have own facilitator with current USA Archery level 1 certification or equivalent. Facilitator must also schedule a skills check with Council staff prior to rental if they have not completed one within the last year.
  • All Daisies, and any Brownies who cannot use regular bows, will use lightweight safety bows.

 

Games Field

  • Large open area next to Pavilion
  • In general, this is a communal use area, but if Archery is reserved, or a group has reserved this area for their exclusive use, other groups will not be able to use it. 
  • If you need to make sure you have it for an event or activity, please be sure to reserve it!
Hourly Rentals (8am-9pm, Monday-Thursday ONLY)
All of our 'Overnight Areas' are also available in 1-hour blocks from 8am-9pm, Monday through Thursday ONLY. Amenities offered are the same as listed under the 'Overnight Areas' drop-down, and prices can be seen in the 'Pricing and Information Guides' drop-down.
