Designed for scouts and scout leaders, outdoor enthusiasts and anyone who works or spends time in remote environments, this course teaches advanced skills to be used in emergencies when help from professional first responders may be far away. This training allows you to take troop trips to remote areas where it would take EMS longer than 30 minutes to arrive, which is required to have according to Safety Activity Checkpoints. This is a 2 year certification.
A current CPR/First Aid certification is required to participate. This is a scenario-based class where there will be lots of hands-on practice. Participants need to be physically able to kneel for up to 5 minutes and able to group carry other participants. Participants may stay overnight in the PODS or return home for the night if you live close by.
*GSHNC volunteer trainings are adult, member-only, and council-only, events. Children of attendees may not accompany adults to this training, please ensure alternate arrangements have been made.
