Charlotte, NC – August 6, 2024 – In a bittersweet
announcement, the Girl Scouts Hornets’ Nest are announcing the
retirement the beloved S’mores cookie, marking the end of an era for
this fan-favorite treat. The announcement coincides with National
S'mores Day, celebrated annually on August 10th, adding a touch of
nostalgia and celebration to the occasion.
The S’mores cookie, introduced in 2015, quickly became a cherished member of the Girl Scouts’ cookie lineup, enchanting taste buds with its crispy graham cracker base, rich chocolate center, and gooey marshmallow topping. The decision to retire this iconic cookie was made with heavy hearts but reflects the evolving tastes and preferences of our cookie enthusiasts and the Girl Scouts’ commitment to innovation.
“The S’mores cookie has held a special place in the hearts of our customers and Girl Scouts alike,” said Tayuanee Dewberry, CEO of Girl Scouts Hornets’ Nest. “While it’s difficult to say goodbye to such a cherished cookie, we are excited to continue our tradition of offering delightful treats that support our mission of empowering girls.”
For those who wish to savor the final taste of the S’mores cookie, it will be available for purchase at during the 2025 cookie season. Fans are encouraged to act quickly to ensure they have one last chance to enjoy this iconic treat before it bids farewell. Of note, the treat freezes well and can be enjoyed for months to come!
Girl Scouts will celebrate National S’mores Day at Anne Close Springs Greenway this Saturday and garner a taste of the great outdoors. The outdoor workshop features not only the opportunity to make the beloved traditional s’mores fireside, but will also teach campfire building and outdoor cooking skills.
The Girl Scouts Hornets’ Nest Council is grateful for the unwavering support of our community and look forward to continuing to provide delicious and inspiring products in the years to come.
