On August 12, 2025, the Girl Scouts, Hornets’ Nest Council announced the launch of a new Body Appreciation Program in partnership with women’s personal care brand Flamingo. The program is designed to help girls value their bodies for what they can do rather than how they look, addressing growing concerns about body image pressures at young ages.
New research from Girl Scouts of the USA reveals that more than one-third of girls ages 5–13 hear negative body image messages from women in their lives. While most girls say they like the way they look, many still wish they could change something about their appearance—especially as they get older. These mixed messages can impact confidence and self-worth, making early intervention critical.
Co-developed with mental health and youth development experts and informed by a national pilot, the Body Appreciation Program introduces a new badge curriculum for Girl Scouts in grades K–12. Through fun, age-appropriate activities, girls learn to celebrate their bodies’ abilities, practice self-care, set healthy boundaries, and navigate social and media pressures with confidence and compassion.
Supported by more than $1 million in funding from Flamingo, the program promotes lifelong well-being while empowering girls to embrace their authentic selves and lift others up—strengthening a culture of kindness, respect, and confidence.
